"Saw these boots in the store and had to have them, however they run narrow so they were very uncomfortable when wore them. I really I liked them so I got them stretched and now I wear them all the time"

Okay boot, not my holy grail
"This boot is not quite as chic as it looks online. The design of the boot is amazing with the higher front and lower back, which creates the same elongating effect on legs as a spanish top on real riding boots. However, I have to squeeze my calves into these which causes bunching at the ankles. I wear a size 7 shoe and my calves are almost exactly 15". It is doable for me to get these on, but not entirely pleasant.The leather is relatively thin, but also supple (though I'm not crazy about the pebbling). Also, I live in a rainy place and they squeak (the bottom of the boot against the floor) whenever they get wet. It drives me crazy."

Beautiful but Narrow
"I was so excited when I took these boots out of the box. They are gorgeous, soft, and look expensive especially for the price. They weren't quite as tall as I had thought, but I still really liked the look of them (I am 5'8 and they came up a couple inches below my knee). But putting them on my feet was not as exciting. The foot bed is extremely narrow. I was able to get my foot in the shoe but there's no way I could wear them around in hopes they would stretch out...they are that tight. If you have a foot on the narrower side, though, I would go for these. Also, I usually wear an 8.5 even in boots but probably would have exchanged them for a 9."

great shoe..but too wide
"The shoe is great. looks better than in the pictures. it's very comfy around the food. the sole is some kind of 'rubber sole' - the good thing is that you can hardly notice it as rubber soles often give boots a look like Rain boots.
as to the cut: the shoe part of the boot is quite narrow but very comfortable. the bootleg is 'normal' which made it too wide for my legs (i have small calves). some of the review say that the boot is narrow. so if you have small calves, reconsider buying the shoes. they are not narrow enough for skinny legs"

Great boot
"This boot is beautiful. The leather is durable and expensive looking and the overall look is classic.
I have a 13.5 inch calf, I can fit my regular jeans in the boot. I would not recommend this boot if you are beyond a 15 inch calf. The fit is true to size, however the boot fits slightly narrow. If you have even the slightest wider foot than average, do not buy this boot. I am 5'5 1/2" and the boot goes up to the middle of my knee. I don't find the height uncomfortable and I like the way it looks!"

Inconsistent
"I ordered these in my normal size, a 9. Got them in the mail, and the left one fit but the right was too small. I figured they were a defective pair, so I returned them and ordered another pair in the same size. Got the new pair in the mail and the right one fit but the left was too small (opposite from the first pair)! I feel like I need to mention that this was not a case of one foot being larger than the other, as they say can sometimes be the case, because it was opposite feet for each pair, and it was a significant difference -- not just that one was a tad more snug than the other. If I had just kept the original left with the new right, they would have been great, but they were way to inconsistent for me to waste any more time trying. I won't trust this brand again!"

Nice shoe but.....
"This is exactly the type of riding boot I was looking for, with a very streamlined, unclunky heel. The fact that it's real leather at this price was a huge bonus. I love that the front top of the boot is cut higher than the back...sort of a cool detail. However, one drawback....though the footbed and calves are comfortable (the leather stretches), the area around the ankle is hard and pushes into my ankle with each step, right where the ankle flexes. I'm hoping this eases over time, as it's quite uncomfortable! It's tolerable for short wear, but not something I could stand for a long time. I'm hoping as the leather stretches and molds to my leg a bit more this will go away. It's a shame because they are SO nice, but maybe this is just me and my foot mechanics. I really like them, but I had to take 1 star off for the ankle discomfort factor!"

They're soft, nicely made, comfortable, not too tight around the calves, and true to size.
And most importantly, they look good :)
I ordered these online in a 9.5 which is my usual size.
I'm 5'7" (close to 5'8") and the front of the boot comes up to the bottom of my knee cap.
If you're looking for a classic, black, equestrian style boot, I would definitely recommend these boots!"

Sadly returned item
"I loved the look of these boots. I ordered them online and actually read the reviews before purchasing. A lot of the reviews had mentioned that the boots ran very wide in the calf. I have a hard time finding boots to fit well in the calf so that was actually one reason I ordered them. I do not order wide calf boots because they are always too wide and won't stay up. I have purchased other boots from DSW that fit wonderfully but these actually were a bit tight on my calves and were very hard to zip when I tried them on over jeans. I was going to keep them and hope they would strech out and become more comfortable but I also found the boots to be an awkward height on my leg. They were taller than just tall boots but they werent quite over the knee. They hit my leg about right in the middle of knee cap which was an awkward fit and looked and felt funny when I walked. I am only 5'2 and have very short legs, so it was odd that the boots were actually too short on me."

Too narrow..
"I was so excited to get these in the mail because of the great reviews! I've been needing a nice pair of black boots to replace my old ones, but I was extremely disappointed when I tried them on..
I got my normal size, size 6, but I could barely get my foot in. The length wasn't an issue, but my bunyans (the bone connecting my large toes) hurt so much when I put them on. Also, they were so tight my foot stretched the "leather" and made it ripple.. indicating a very thin "leather upper"--it would probably tear if you kicked something. Also, the heel dug into my food and my ankle was too big for the boot? I could barely zip it up over my ankle! And I have a relatively dainty build. Needless to say, I returned them and am still looking for that perfect pair.."

"I love the quality, but they did not fit right at all.
I have wide feet, so I'm used to having to break shoes in. However, these boots were way too narrow. I am exchanging them for a different pair of riding boots.

"This shoe is perfect. when i was looking for a riding boot i wanted something that i can wear to work. when i saw these i had to order them. when they were delivered i was still satisfied... the material isn't cheap looking , it fits true to size and are extremely comfortable."

Fantastic Boot!!
"Fantastic Boot! Super comfortable. The fit , true to size. My shoe size is 7.5. I found this boot to be easy on , with plenty of room to tuck in a pair of jeans. I work retail and wore them for 8 hrs with no problems.
The leather is soft, foot bed comfortable and the sole very flexible. I found the Sofft Claremont Riding Boot the most comfortable boot I own."

"I ordered these boots online, and when they arrived, I was so disappointed, as the calves were extremely wide, and even shaped in the back to accommodate very wide calves. It is so difficult to find boots that fit people with smaller calves. I returned them and after an hour of searching in the store, found one pair that actually fits!"
