Very Cute But Needs Serious Breaking In

The narrrow, oddly cut toe box makes for a painful toe-knuckle and unsightly toe-cleavage.
"I purchased these in "Brown", which arrived looking just like the photo. Not brown, but more of a cement grey. My feet are average width, I have an average arch, and I am always a 8.5 - size 9 shoe depending on designer. In these shoes, a 9 is still ever so slightly too short, so they run short.
the shoe is narrower in the toe box than I was expecting, and the shape of the opening allows for an unattractive amount of toe-cleavage. The combination of narrowness and cut actually forces my second-to-smallest toe up hammer toe style and rubs very uncomfortably on that toe's knuckle (see photo). I could hardly make it to my car the pain was so excruciating. I'm hoping since these shoes are leather that it will soften up and not be quite so painful there.
There is contrasting stitching INSIDE the shoe along the foot bed, and they used a very thick, stiff thread. This stitching feels AWFUL, especially on the ball of the foot. Placing a ball of the foot insert inside the shoe helped tremendously.
The slope of the shoe is not too severe, the ankle strap locks your foot into place nicely, and the shoe feels sturdy, so these will be easy to walk in once they are broken in (a lot).
It is genuine leather, and the material itself looks high quality, but you can see a few spots along the seams where it wasn't glued together very well.
Time will tell if these shoes were a good buy, but for now, they're not perfect."
