"I spent the better part of an hour trying on several shoe brands/styles, walking around the store, and doing paired comparisons. The Bostonian Wendell fit and felt better than the competition. I have been wearing New Balance running shoes, but they aren't really appropriate for dress up. A feature I enjoy in the New Balance 540s is the similar interior height of the heel and ball areas. Most casual and dress shoes felt much higher in the heel and they seemed to tip me forward. The Wendell approximated the fit of the New Balance.
I first chose a size 10M, which is the size I usually wear. The shoes felt good in the store. After a few days wearing them at home, I found my heels slipping. I went back to DSW to try a pair of 9.5M and focused primarily on the action of my heels in the shoes. The length did not seem to be a problem and my heels seemed more stable. I purchased the 9.5Ms and a package of heel stabilizers, as well. I've worn the 9.5s including a full day's wear over last weekend, and remain pleased with the choice."
"I thought that I had done a good job of trying out a size 10 M (my usual sizes) Wendell in the store last week. I compared these shoes to two other similarly styled brands, and found the Wendell most comfortable of them. They were lighter, more flexible, and seemed to fit well. After wearing them for several hours a day for a few days, I find the back of the shoes looser and less comfortable, making me feel less sure-footed when walking. I'll go back and try a 9.5 M. Has anyone else had this issue?"
