Leather has 'character'
"The 13-1/2" measurement for calf circumference are based on a size 6. For a size 9, which I bought, the calf circumference is closer to 16". Fair warning for anyone who is looking for a skinnier calf boot. This is not it. The size of the 'shoe' part was fine, the shaft of the boot was just huge on me. See picture of me pinching all the excess material at the ankle.
The leather has plenty of "character" (variations in color and texture). If you're looking for something really smooth and uniform, again, this is not it. See picture. The ankle straps droop, although the buckles might be functional, and you might be able to tighten them. The toe is very round. Finally, the sole of the boot left black residue on my hands.
Maybe if I had wider calves and were looking for something very casual, I might've kept them."
