very nice
" After I bought the slightly more expensive pair of tan wingtips and gave them a great review I decided to by this pair because the finish was a bit more casual and not really distressed but not as burnished.
The fit was not as spectacular as the $159 wingtips though the construction seems identical. I probably should have upped a half size but thats really my fault-not the shoe. As I said-the construction is almost identical except for maybe some details in the sole which might possibly involve a less rugged welting system-though I can't say for sure*
* one of the most difficult things I had to learn over the past ten years as a men's shoe fanatic is how clever companies got in disguising cheaper methods of construction like 'fake' rubber molded welting that looks very real. Or inlayed pieces of very thin leather into a rubber sole to fake a leather sole. But as far as I can tell- this model of MF wingtips is almost as nice as the $159 pair and I am hoping the sole is actually a welted leather as it appears. I can't think of any other reason its $20 less expensive except that maybe the leather upper is a slightly lesser grade but that it is supposed to be a little more casual anyway.
Other then that-its the same as my review for the other pair-They are equal in my opinion to many $300-$500 msrp brand name/designer Italian oxfords and give AE a definite run for the money. I also like the last on the MF oxfords more then most AE lasts which I find a bit old fashioned except on their boots and a wingtips. Definitely worth the money. Can't wait to start wearing wingtips again and hope the snow salt and slush is finally gone. I am going to see if there is a similar pair of MF in black since I have my fill of Gucci, BrunoM and Ferrgmo for now and like the idea of spending under $200 for the same good looks and a comfortable shoe
However-as nice as MF wingtips are-I havn't found all their styles to be as comfortable and NOTHING beats my two pair of Ferragamo wingtip and oxford for comfort and style-but they cost a lot more and these MF allow me to preserve the ferrgmo's for a longer time by alternating
