adorable, but gaping in the ankle

" I was so excited to get these. They are exactly what I've been looking for for the last couple of years. I normally wear a 9.5, sometimes a 9 in flats if I'm not wearing socks. So I got these in 9.5 and they were way too big. I probably could have made them work with a really thick pair of socks, and I wanted to, BUT the ankle just gaped open, even when I pulled the laces tight. I feel like even if they fit, the ankle would still make them look like they were too big. I do have smaller ankles and calves, so this may not be a problem for everyone. But unfortunately I had to return them. I was also concerned that the suede would get really dirty easily around the sole. I know you could pretreat them, but these just seemed a little too fragile for Missouri winter weather. "
